PDA · Pentadeca Arginate
BPC-157 Arginine Variant
Evidence grade 1 of 5, Untested. Read how the Atlas grades evidence.
No completed human trial and no peer-reviewed study has ever investigated Pentadeca Arginate as a distinct molecule; it inherits the animal-only, largely preclinical evidence base of BPC-157, whose own record is one 2025 systematic review (Vasireddi et al.) that screened over 500 articles and found only a single small clinical study, plus scattered uncontrolled case reports. PDA is marketed as a more stable, compounding-accessible successor to BPC-157, but that stability claim is unpublished and the efficacy case rests on extrapolation, so an honest grade is 1 (anecdotal / animal-only), matching the current value.
- FDA
- Not FDA approved; the parent compound BPC-157 is designated a Category 2 bulk drug substance (significant safety risks, not permitted for 503A/503B compounding). PDA is not separately listed and inherits this status as the same active pentadecapeptide sequence.
- WADA
- Prohibited at all times under WADA category S0 (Non-Approved Substances), inherited from BPC-157; banned in and out of competition.

What can go wrong
No completed human trials and no peer-reviewed data on PDA itself; an unapproved research chemical that rides on BPC-157 preclinical extrapolation and is trending because of a compounding and legal workaround, not because of evidence.
Talk to a clinician before taking this. The Atlas can tell you what has been studied about PDA · Pentadeca Arginate. It cannot tell you how it would interact with your body, your history, or anything else you are taking, and nothing on this page is a reason to start.
A modified BPC-157 with an arginine substitution, created to stay accessible to compounding pharmacies after the 2023 BPC-157 restrictions. Rising fast as a "legal" alternative despite very little independent data.
What people take it for
These are the reasons people give for taking it. They are not effects it has been shown to have.
How it is supposed to work
PDA is marketed as a healing peptide that speeds tissue repair through the same mechanisms claimed for BPC-157: growing new blood vessels, boosting collagen production, and calming inflammation to help the gut, muscles, tendons and joints recover. The single most important fact about how it works is that PDA is the same peptide as BPC-157. Only its salt form differs, so whatever real biological effect it has would simply be BPC-157’s effect, no more and no less.
PDA is a 15-amino-acid synthetic peptide with the exact BPC-157 sequence (GEPPPGKPADDAGLV), produced as an arginine salt rather than the usual acetate salt. Peptides are made as salts with a counterion attached for stability or solubility, and pentadeca arginate refers to this same molecule with an arginine counterion instead of acetate. The peptide itself is unchanged; the difference is a formulation detail, not a new compound.

Same Peptide As BPC-157, Premium Price
PDA is sold as a superior, more stable, next-generation evolution of BPC-157, and the honest reality undercuts that on every point. First, it is literally the same peptide as BPC-157; only the salt counterion differs, arginate instead of acetate, so it is not a new molecule. Second, the headline claim that the arginate form is a thousand times more stable has never been published in any peer-reviewed journal; it appears to come from compounding-vendor marketing documents, not independent research. Third, no peer-reviewed study has ever investigated PDA as a distinct molecule, so all of its supposed evidence is borrowed from BPC-157. And BPC-157 itself rests on extensive rodent data but, as of a 2025 systematic review, a single twelve-patient human case series. So PDA is a premium-priced upgrade of a compound that already lacks human evidence, built on a salt change and an unpublished stability claim.
Safety in detail
PDA is sold as a research chemical, not an approved medicine, and no established safe human dose exists. Because it is chemically the same active sequence as BPC-157, its safety profile is unstudied in humans and it carries the same unapproved status; positive stability and efficacy claims are made by vendors and clinics and are not supported by published peer-reviewed data.
- There is no PDA-specific safety data; it borrows BPC-157’s, which is itself mostly rodent data plus a single tiny human series.
- The arginate is a salt change with no established safety advantage over the acetate form.
- It is not legally marketed for human use and is sold research-use-only through unregulated channels.
- It is prohibited in sport as a non-approved substance.
- Marketing claims of fewer side effects than BPC-157 are unproven.
Children and teenagers
PDA is an unproven healing peptide, the same as BPC-157, with no human evidence base, and has no place in minors. Pediatric injuries and conditions belong with qualified specialists, not a gray-market peptide marketed on an unpublished stability claim. There is no appropriate pediatric use.
What people get wrong
Nothing recorded here yet. There is almost certainly something people get wrong about this one, and the blank space means we have not written it down, not that the record is clean.
Who profits, and who pushes back
Nobody is named here yet, because we have not done that work on this entry. Read that as unfinished. Somebody almost certainly sells this, and somebody almost certainly disputes it. Assume both until we have checked.
PDA’s economics are the story. Compounding pharmacies and gray-market vendors sell it at a premium as the next BPC-157, and the marketing that drives that premium, including the thousand-times-more-stable claim, appears to originate from those same vendors rather than independent science. It is a clear case of marketing manufacturing a premium tier out of a salt change, charging more for what is chemically the same peptide.
How we got here
Pentadeca Arginate descends directly from BPC-157, a synthetic pentadecapeptide (sequence GEPPPGKPADDAGLV) derived from a fragment associated with a human gastric protein and studied since the 1990s mostly in rodents. After the FDA designated BPC-157 a Category 2 bulk drug substance in 2023, effectively barring compounding pharmacies from dispensing it, vendors and clinics reformulated the same active sequence as an arginate salt and rebranded it 'Pentadeca Arginate' or 'PDA,' positioning it as a more stable and still-accessible alternative. The molecule is therefore a regulatory and commercial rebrand rather than a new discovery, and the FDA Category 2 restriction on BPC-157 names that compound specifically rather than the arginate variant, which is one reason the PDA name is used.
BPC-157, a pentadecapeptide with extensive rodent data, a single-lab concentration of research, and just one small human series, became a popular gray-market healing peptide. Around 2024 and 2025, vendors introduced pentadeca arginate as a premium arginate-salt version, marketed as more stable, longer-lasting and an evolution beyond BPC-157’s drawbacks. It was rapidly adopted through compounding and gray-market channels on a next-big-thing narrative, even as the central stability claim remained unpublished and no PDA-specific research appeared.
- ongoingBPC-157 accumulates extensive rodent data but only one small human case series.
- 2024-2025Vendors introduce pentadeca arginate as a premium arginate-salt version of BPC-157.
- 2025A systematic review underscores BPC-157’s thin human evidence, which PDA borrows.
- 2026The thousand-times-more-stable claim remains unpublished; no PDA-specific study exists.

The people taking it
The trending next BPC-157, heavily marketed as a superior, more-stable healing peptide, but in fact the same peptide as BPC-157 with a different salt and no distinct evidence.
PDA’s users are the BPC-157 and healing crowd, people seeking recovery from injury, gut-health support, or tendon and joint repair, drawn by marketing presenting it as an improved BPC-157. Athletes and biohackers attracted to the newest, most-stable-sounding option are a core group, including BPC-157 users upsold to the premium version.
Marketed and sold gray-market and compounded as an improved BPC-157 for healing and recovery, with no distinct evidence of its own. Not approved.
Set against the alternatives
The only comparison that matters is to BPC-157, and the punchline is that PDA is BPC-157, the same sequence with a different salt. Any claimed superiority is about formulation and stability, which is unproven and unpublished, so biologically the two should behave identically and the entire PDA-versus-BPC-157 framing is a marketing construct around a salt swap. Against established healing agents like the growth factors EGF, VEGF and bFGF, both PDA and BPC-157 are far less validated, resting on animal data rather than human trials. Its supposed strength is an upgrade; the reality is that the upgrade is a counterion and a claim.
What we do not know
- Whether the arginate salt meaningfully improves stability or bioavailability, which is unpublished.
- Whether PDA does anything BPC-157 does not, which, being the same peptide, it should not.
- Whether the parent BPC-157 works in humans at all, given only one tiny study.
- Why PDA commands a premium for what is chemically the same peptide.
What could change
PDA-specific researchWhether any independent study of PDA as a distinct molecule ever appears.Compounding statusIts regulatory standing remains under review.Borrowed evidenceAny developments in BPC-157’s evidence apply directly, since they are the same peptide.Marketing-driven growthDemand continues to be propelled by vendor marketing rather than data.
Legal status
PDA is not legally marketed for human use and is sold research-use-only through unregulated channels. Its compounding status is under review; its parent BPC-157 was nominated but withdrawn from the restricted compounding list, and PDA as a distinct arginate form was not individually named. It is prohibited in sport.

The market for this
What follows describes how this is bought and sold. It is not a buying guide and it is not an endorsement of any seller.
PDA is available only through gray-market research-use-only vendors and compounding, neither a legitimate human-use route. The premium over BPC-157 does not buy proven benefit; anyone drawn to this class should understand the evidence, extensive rodent data plus one small human series, is BPC-157’s, and applies equally to PDA, and should insist on tested product if they proceed.
PDA is typically sold at a premium over BPC-157, the upgrade pricing, despite being the same peptide with a different salt. The higher price buys marketing and a counterion, not demonstrated benefit, and gray-market product carries no quality guarantee.
PDA comes from compounding pharmacies and Chinese research synthesis as an arginate salt, with the same sourcing caveats as BPC-157 and no quality assurance behind most gray-market material.
