What can go wrong
Counterfeits carry three stacked dangers: (1) toxic contaminants (heavy metals, amphetamine, industrial fillers); (2) uncontrolled API dosing that can be sub-therapeutic or dangerously high, reintroducing the nitrate/alpha-blocker hazard without any oversight; and (3) the absence of any quality control, sterility, or interaction labeling. Buying from illegitimate online pharmacies also exposes payment and identity data to fraud.

Sildenafil (Viagra) is among the most counterfeited medicines in the world. How it is supposed to work
Legitimate sildenafil/tadalafil work via PDE5 inhibition. Counterfeits are uncontrolled manufactures: some contain roughly the labeled dose, many contain too little or too much, and some contain none of the active drug but instead fillers and contaminants. The amphetamine sometimes detected appears intended to produce a perceptible 'effect' for marketing, at serious cardiovascular cost.
