What can go wrong

The test-plus-supplement model creates a structural incentive (the test surfaces a 'problem' the supplement addresses). Ingredient effects are modest. NSF certification covers banned-substance screening and quality, not efficacy.

This is something to take to a clinician. The Atlas can tell you what is known about thorne in general. It cannot tell you what is happening in your body, and the difference matters most for exactly the symptoms that bring people to this page.

Thorne (Thorne HealthTech; taken private by L Catterton in 2023 for ~$680M) positions itself on purity, third-party certification (NSF Certified for Sport), and a research collaboration with the Mayo Clinic (a collaboration, not an equity relationship). Its Advanced Testosterone Support uses PrimaVie shilajit, Shoden ashwagandha, luteolin phytosome, L-leucine, and zinc bisglycinate. Thorne also sells an at-home Testosterone + SHBG test, pairing supplement sales with the testing that creates demand for them.

A quality-positioned brand pairing supplements with at-home hormone tests.

What people take it for

These are the reasons people give for taking it. They are not effects it has been shown to have.

  • Testosterone-support supplement; at-home hormone testing

What people get wrong

  • Often saidNSF certification means it raises testosterone

ActuallyNSF Certified for Sport verifies purity and absence of banned substances, not that the product raises testosterone. The finished formula is untested.

Who profits, and who pushes back

Nobody is named here yet, because we have not done that work on this entry. Read that as unfinished. Somebody almost certainly sells this, and somebody almost certainly disputes it. Assume both until we have checked.
