What can go wrong

High-potency standardization means small doses; testosterone-specific data are limited relative to KSM-66.

This is something to take to a clinician. The Atlas can tell you what is known about shoden (ashwagandha) in general. It cannot tell you what is happening in your body, and the difference matters most for exactly the symptoms that bring people to this page.

Shoden is a high-potency ashwagandha extract from Arjuna Natural, standardized to ~35% withanolide glycosides, allowing low effective doses (often ~120-240 mg). It appears in quality-positioned products such as Thorne's testosterone-support formula. Its testosterone evidence base is smaller than KSM-66's; most trials target sleep, stress, and well-being.

A high-potency, low-dose ashwagandha used by quality brands.

What people take it for

These are the reasons people give for taking it. They are not effects it has been shown to have.

  • Stress/sleep; included in some T-support formulas

What people get wrong

  • Often saidHigher withanolide % means more testosterone effect

ActuallyHigher standardization allows smaller doses but does not establish a larger testosterone effect; the T evidence for Shoden specifically is thin.

Who profits, and who pushes back

Nobody is named here yet, because we have not done that work on this entry. Read that as unfinished. Somebody almost certainly sells this, and somebody almost certainly disputes it. Assume both until we have checked.

What this entry does not yet cover

What follows is unfinished work on our side, not a finding about Shoden (Ashwagandha). A short entry is not a safe entry.

  • Supply chain. We have not mapped where it is made.
  • Who uses it. We have not documented the user groups.
  • What could change. No forward-looking summary yet.
